Gliomas are the most common type of primary brain tumour, and arise within the brain substance itself. The vast majority occur sporadically, although a very small subset occur secondary to an underlying genetic condition. Gliomas are slightly more common in males than females, and occur in patients of all ages. Their behaviour and associated treatment strategies differ vastly between the different subtypes.
Dr Winder and Dr Lukins use minimally invasive surgical techniques when dissecting these tumours. Each case is then discussed at length with our multi-disciplinary team to curate a treatment strategy that is unique to you. Our multi-disciplinary service consists of Neurosurgeons, Medical Oncologists, Radiation Oncologists, Neuroradiologists, Pathologists and Geneticists.
